Dove & Pigeon Hunting
Eat your heart out Cordoba! With our Argentina cast & Blast Program, guest can hunt Doves and Pigeons all out of the same lodge. Due to crop loss from Doves, local farmers welcome our guests to hunt both Doves and Pigeons in their fields. Therefore, we offer our guests diverse terrain and cropland and the option to hunt a number of rested fields everyday. During a typical afternoon hunt, a hunter might shoot over 800 times at Doves and about 1000 times at Pigeons. A typical Dove hunt in Esquina comes with a traditional asado (barbecue) in the field!
Perdiz Hunting
The Spotted Tinamou or Perdiz is arguably the most exciting upland game-bird and the Corriente Province has the highest population of Perdiz in Argentina. Our exclusive estancia and other neighboring ranches, we hunt highly productive fields for the Perdiz. While hunting with us you may see 10 to 20 Perdiz in a single afternoon and most hunters reach the daily bag limit. Our top trained Pointers and Brittanies are the best in the area and will greatly enhance your hunting experience. The Perdiz is a distant cousin of the Ostrich and is a fast runner. It stands like a Gray Partridge, looks like a female pheasant and has a bit more mass than a Bob-White Quail.
Golden Dorado Fishing
The Corriente, Parana River Delta and the main Parana are the three waters we fish for the Golden Dorado. The Corriente River runs along the estancia's property only 100 yards from the lodge. Much like trout tactics, fishing on the Corriente is done by wading as well as slowly floating while casting 5 inch streamers to structure on the banks. Mouths of small channels and the top of runs always hold fish. While fishing the endless labyrinth of vegetation and water in the Parana Delta and Corriente, anglers can expect to hook several fish in the 7 to 12 pound range and possibly fish in the 20 pound range. Fishing in the main Parana is only done from the boat casting to the shore. Fish are generally larger in the deltas and Corriente River.
Duck Hunting
Literally millions of ducks winter in the low wetlands and delta of the Paraná River drainage. From May 1- August 31, our duck hunting guests will see thousands of ducks and a variety of species. Our duck hunts take place on numerous lagoons located on private ranches and on the coast, islands and marsh of the Corriente and Paraná Rivers. Hunters will sit in blinds, shoot over decoys and have their birds retrieved by bird boys. Our duck hunts start just before day
break and finish about 10:00 am or when all have reached their limit. Hunters will almost always get the chance to reach the daily limit and most proficient hunters do. Lunch is served about 12:00 pm followed by a well deserved siesta. The afternoon can be occupied by hunting duck, dove, pigeon or Perdiz or even Dorado fishing. There are roughly 25 species of ducks that migrate through this area, however the most common are the Rosy-Billed Pochard (Neta peposaca), Brazilian Teal (Amazonetta brasiliensis), Silver Teal (Anas flavirostris), Speckled Teal (Anas flavirostris), White-faced Whistling Duck, (Dendrocygna viduata), Black-Bellied Tree Duck, (Dendrocygna autumnalis), Fulvous Whistling Duck (Dendrocygna bicolor), White Cheeked Pintail (Anas bahamensis), Red Shoveler (Anas platalea), Black-headed duck (Heteronetta atricapilla), and the Ringed Teal (Callonetta leucophrys).
