The spring salmon run begins in mid-April as soon as the ice has moved out. The spring run fishing is done from small boats, fully guided. It is dependant on the water going down enough, as to whether or not wade fishing is an option. The fish are migrating back to the ocean after spending the winter under the ice spawning; they are hungry and ready to take your fly! The salmon can be up to 20 pounds. The lodge has one mile of private water with four salmon pools right out your front door! Inn addition to the Miramichi, we can fish the Cains and Renous Rivers which are also known for good salmon fishing.
When you are not fishing, you can spend time chasing our Grouse and Woodcock! The Miramichi Valley is notorious for its native woodcock and grouse populations and the area provides an ideal setting for hunting these unique upland birds. Our seasoned guides hunt over English setters in the best areas in the province. Hunting woodcock and grouse in the Miramichi Valley is both fun and challenging!
The lodge is newly renovated and has six bedrooms with ensuite baths. The land on both sides of the river is private allowing a secluded setting. Access to the river is literally right out your front door, so you can pull on your waders, grab your rod and hit the river.
The Miramichi Black Rapids Lodge is located in the heart of the Miramichi Valley.
