When you think of Alaska fishing, you think of Bristol Bay, located on the southwest side of Alaska, it is know for its incredible Rainbow Trout fishing.  Considered the best fly fishing in the U.S.  This is due to the fact that during the summer months the fish populations number in the millions.  The Bristol bay watershed is home to pristine wilderness, majestic mountains, enormous Rainbow Trout, five species of Pacific Salmon, Arctic Char, Grayling, Pike and lake Trout.  It is also home to the second largest National Park in the U.S.  Katmai National Park is 4.2 million acres of virtually untouched wilderness where you will find moose, Caribou, Wolves, Eagles and of course, the Alaskan Brown Bear.

At the end of the road, at the end of the world on the famous NakNek River you will find Rapids Camp Lodge.  While it is only seven miles up river from the town of King Salmon and just an eighty minute flight from Anchorage, it is a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!  Inviting and friendly, comfortable and private, the lodge offers it's guest a host of amenities to include a workout facility, quiet reading room, beer and wine bar, high speed internet and satellite television.  Meals are delicious, two gourmet chefs prepare everything from salmon to succulent steaks.

Air transportation is of the utmost importance when experiencing what Alaska has to offer.  Our fleet consists of 4 planes, two DeHavilland DHC-2 Beavers on floats, a fully restored DeHavilland Beaver on tundra tires and a DeHavilland DHC-3 Otter.  The Otter is one of 26 planes in the world that has been retrofitted with a 1000 hp Garrett turbine engine to increase performance and range.  This is the best way to experience the incredible locations that Bristol Bay fly fishing has to offer!

Trophy Rainbow Trout Fishing

Fish Alaska Magazine chose the NakNek River as the "#1 Trophy Rainbow Trout River in Alaska".  The rapids located right in  front of the lodge is the premier spot to fish the river for these trophy Bows!  Guests can enjoy a scenic boat ride to the outlet of NakNek Lake where the Rainbow Trout are plentiful and enormous.  Fish in the 30" range are often caught in this area.

Salmon Fishing

Salmon fishing in Alaska is unparalleled as you have the opportunity to catch all five species of Salmon, the abundant King Salmon, Sockeye, Coho, Chum and Pink Salmon.  Fishing for the Salmon is one adventure you will not soon forget!

Bear Viewing

Bear viewing throughout all of Katmai National Park and the surrounding area is famous worldwide, but undoubtedly the premier place in the world is Brooks Falls.  In recent years over 100 bears have visited the 1.5 mile Brooks River annually during the peak of the Sockeye Salmon run.
