Our fly fishing schools are intended to serve a variety of topics pertaining to the sport of fly fishing.  We strive to tailor each program to match each anglers skill level.  Whether you are a beginning angler or one who has fly fished for years, we will take the mystery out of this lifelong sport.  We want to accelerate the learning curve for the novice angler but also improve the skills of the more advanced angler.  we offer a one day intensive and fun fly fishing course designed to your specific experience level.  We also offer private hourly fly casting instruction to improve your efficiency and skill level.

Fly Casting Instruction

  This one or two hour fly casting instruction is intended for the beginning or novice fly caster who wants to learn the art of fly casting or just want to drop a few bad habits.  This program will improve your casting technique to make you a more efficient fly caster and also add distance and increase accuracy to your cast.  Along the way maybe add some new tricks to your casting repertoire.  This is completely hands on guidance, setting into motion new skills that will make your time on the water more productive and most importantly more enjoyable.

Topics covered:

  • Proper balancing of rod and reel
  • Fundamentals of fly casting
  • The Overhead Cast
  • The Roll Cast
  • False Casting

  More advanced topics can be covered according to
individual experience level

Fly Fishing School

   The Fly Fishing School consists of one evening at a local fly shop for an in-depth lecture about equipment selection followed by a full day of on-stream instruction.

  The following topics are included during our on-stream fly fishing class:

  • Equipment selection to include fly rods, reels, lines, leaders and tippet
  • Entomology and fly selection
  • Basic knots
  • Fundamentals of fly casting
  • Species of fish and behavior
  • Reading water
  • Line management
  • Approaching fish
  • Presentation of fly
  • Hooking and landing fish
  • Etiquette

More Advanced topics can be covered according to
individual experience level
