Yan Kee Way Lodge
Puerto Montt, Chile
Our flagship five-star Yan Kee Way resort is designed as a luxurious Eco Sport Adventure and Fly Fishing Lodge complex. Our guests enjoy close personal contact with Patagonian nature while participating in their favorite outdoor activities. At the end of the day, they relish creature comforts, exquisite cuisine and fine wines as they relax and recharge for tomorrow’s excitement. We are located just one hour’s drive north and east of Puerto Montt, on the shore of Lago Llanquihue (Yan Kee Way ), near the small town of Ensenada. Adventure expeditions are minutes away as Yan Kee Way is in the center of the region’s outdoor recreational activities. The resort complex is a complement of buildings nestled within a small 12-acre forest at lake’s edge, in the shadow of Volcano Osorno. Our Chalets and Bungalows provide the living environment of your own private vacation home. It is the perfect place for groups, families and couples to relax, but to also enjoy a variety of outdoor eco and sport activities including fishing for large trout and salmon as the seasons allow.
El Patagon Lodge is more remote and rustic than Yan Kee Way. Located, riverside on more than 2,200 acres of our own private forestland, the lodge grounds include almost a mile of lakefront on Lago Rosselot, over 5.5 miles of frontage on the Rio Figueroa and its own spring creek. We cater to die-hard anglers who enjoy solitude, natural beauty and, of course, strong beautiful fish. Surrounded by numerous lakes, streams and rivers in the pristine silence of the Andean Patagonia forest, makes El Patagon Lodge the place for you. Rustic, doesn't imply that you deny yourself soft beds, high thread count sheets and towels that will actually dry you off. Your private cabin has 24-hour electricity, tiled bathrooms and the warmth of your own wood-burning stove. Design your own breakfast cooked just for you and evening meals designed and paired with great Chilean wines. Does your non-fishing spouse wish to travel to Patagonia with you? Great! While you ply Chilean waters, made famous by world-class trout fishing, your spouse can be participating in Eco and sport adventure in the five-star comforts of Yan Kee Way Lodge. We are experienced and pleased to take extraordinary care of your better half as many couples choose to share the experience of Patagonia this manner.
In 1966, our founder made his first fly-fishing expedition to Chile In 199 he invited fly-fishing friends and other well-known fly fishermen from the Pacific Northwest to explore, enjoy and “decode” this unique fishery in southern Chile. Over 2,700 acres on Chilean waters were acquired based on these exploratory fishing expeditions and their discoveries. These locations are a result of their combined experience and what these experts consider to be the “best” of the best” fly-fishing in the Patagonia.
As stories spread and interest grew, our founder was encouraged to make this opportunity available to other fly-fishing enthusiasts as well. Southern Chile Expeditions was thus born. If your interest is fly-fishing rivers and lakes, saltwater estuaries or both, you deserve the best the Patagonia has to offer and that is what we have awaiting you.
Our premier staff of fly-fishing guides will enable you to enjoy this experience to its full potential. During the fly-fishing season in the Northern Hemisphere, our North American guides work in Alaska, the lower 48 states and British Colombia. Our multilingual Chilean guides have numerous years of angling experience on our local waters and provide real competition to our guides from the North.
Our lodges have been featured twice on Fly Fish the World and other international film and television programs.
Our guests have been extremely pleased with the professionalism and expertise of our guides. Their ability to tie and match the hatch is among, if not the best, in Chile.
YAN KEE WAY is a great starting and ending point for any expedition to Chile and is a fascinating facility unto itself. Volcan Osorno, considered one of the most beautiful volcanic cones in the world, dominates the horizon in front of the lodge. The compound was carefully constructed over a five year period, with great attention to detail. Exposed, sandblasted post and beam construction throughout highlights beautiful local woods, black lava encrustations and old-world style craftsmanship.
Lodging is comprised of private chalets, bungalows and hotel style rooms. The 1,400 square foot chalets and bungalows are designed to accommodate groups of various sizes. Each building was carefully designed and constructed from beautiful local woods, in a style appreciative of local architecture yet incorporating many modern features, including central heating and details such as fluffy towels, bathrobes and goose down comforters, which are sure to please your family and friends.
